Gary Taylor

August 14, 1945 — February 19, 2021

Gary J. Taylor, age 75, of Woodhull, IL. died Friday February 19, 2021 at Genesis Medical Center in Silvis, IL.  Private Funeral Services are Tuesday February 23, 2021 at the Peterson Wallin Knox funeral Home in Woodhull.  There is no visitation.  Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery.  Memorials may be left to the Tri-County Ambulance Service or the United Church of Woodhull.  Online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com

He was born August 14, 1945 in Kewanee, IL. to Joe and Frances Bloom Taylor.  Gary graduated from AlWood High School in 1963 and served in the U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division Artillery from 1965-1967.

He married Rhonda G. Cowser December 16, 1972 in Woodhull.  Gary was employed as a welder for 37 years at John Deere Harvester in East Moline retiring in 2000.

He was a former member of the Clover Township Fire Department, Woodhull Jaycees and served as a JCI Senator.  He was a member of Miles S. Sturgeon American Legion Post # 546 and volunteered for the Woodhull Meals on Wheels.

Gary enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and bird watching, liked watching college basketball and was an avid Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs fan.  He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda, 1 daughter Kimberly (Stephen) Butka of Grand Blanc, MI, 1 son, Dan Taylor of East Moline, IL, 5 grandchildren Michael, Eli, Cora, Charlie and Calvin, 1 brother Rodger (Gloria) Taylor of Alpha, Il and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, infant grandson, 1 sister Judy Beck and 2 brothers James and Richard preceded him in death.
