Wilma Joyce Bloomberg

Wilma “Joyce” Bloomberg, 95 of Woodhull, Illinois passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Mercer Manor Rehabilitation in Aledo. Friends, family and neighbors are welcome to gather for a luncheon at the Woodhull Village Hall on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Private graveside services will be in the Woodhull Cemetery. There is no visitation.  Memorial donations may be left to the Clover Township Library or the Bethany Lutheran Church. Joyce was born April 9, 1927 in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Wayne LaVerne and Mildred Alfrieda Swanson Thayer. She graduated from Woodhull High School and later attended Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal. On June 8, 1947 she married Robert A. Bloomberg in Woodhull. He passed away on February 12, 2010.

Following school, Joyce was employed in the offices of Globe Machinery and Supply Company in Moline. She later was a bookkeeper for the AlWood School District for many years. Joyce was a life-long member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, member of the Chapter L PEO and an avid gardener, quilter and reader.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Meredith (Terry) Johnson of New Windsor; 2 sons, David (Brenda) Bloomberg of Stover, MO; Jim (Annette) Bloomberg of Morrisville, NC; 5 grandchildren, Paul, Kathy, Graham, Drew, and Peter; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Marian Johnson.
