Violet "Viola" Price, age 91, a resident of The Lighthouse of Silvis, IL, formerly of Woodhull, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus. Mass of the Christian Burial is 11 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull. Burial is in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull where a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. A memorial fund will be established and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.
She was born May 8, 1921 in Atkinson, IL, a daughter of Fredrick and Florence DeRoo Hulslander. She married Donald J. Price February 15, 1947 in Atkinson, IL. He died January 18, 2010.
Viola was a homemaker and worked with her husband on the family farm. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull and St. John's Altar and Rosary Society. Viola enjoyed dancing, cooking, going to riverboats, playing cards and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters: Gale (Gary) Wikert of Crossville, TN; Leanne (Frank) Shaw of Moline, IL; a son: Gary (Connie) Price of Lindenhurst, IL; 6 grandchildren: Tracy (Sam) Stella of Volo, IL; Richard (Amy) Price of Antioch, IL; Mark (Angela) Tusing of Normal, IL; Kevin Tusing of Los Angeles, CA; Brandon and Blake Shaw of Moline; 4 great grandchildren: Josh, Kaylee and Hunter Price; Alyssa Cattaneo; and one great granddaughter, lovingly expected; one brother: Robert Hulslander of Cambridge, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
