Viola Mae Kofoid, 88, of Galesburg, Il formerly of Alpha, IL died Friday October 7, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg. Services are 2:00 PM Thursday October 13, 2011 at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home where a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com
She was born November 16, 1922 in Chicago, Il. She graduated from Hopkins High School in Granville, Illinois and married James S. Kofoid April 24, 1943. He died in 1994.
Viola was a homemaker and was a secretary at the Ophiem Grain Elevator and Orion Soil Service for many years retiring in 1987.
She was a member of the Methodist Church , the United Methodist Women, USBC and was a 4H Leader for many years. Viola was an avid Bowler and gardener and she enjoyed crocheting and growing roses.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sandra (Thomas) Blad of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Laura (Greg) Wutzke of Westchester, IL. 2 sons, Dr. Kenneth (Rita) Kofoid of Bushland, TX, Douglas (Viktoria) Kofoid of Woodhull, Il, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Her parents and 2 sons, Cecil and Gerald preceded her in death
