Susan K. Coutant, 69, of Aledo, Illinois died Monday, July 4, 2016 in her home after a courageous eleven year battle with cancer. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fippinger's where memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. She was born December 16, 1946 in Muscatine, Iowa to Boyd and Mildred Carlson Thirtyacre. She graduated from Winola High School in 1965 and attended AIC in Davenport, Iowa. On September 8, 1968, she was united in marriage to William A. Coutant Jr.
In additional to being a homemaker, Susan was employed at the former Nelson's grocery store in Aledo and was later employed at the former National Bank of Aledo. She was also employed at the Mercer County Senior Center and Veterans Assistance office in the Mercer County Courthouse. On a monthly basis and for special occasions, she cooked for the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging in Rock Island (WIAAA).
Sue was a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge where she held several different positions and the National Street Rod Association Women's division. She enjoyed reading, crafts and attending car shows. She enjoyed creating games for the Kountry Run Car Show and the WIAAA bus trips.
Survivors include her husband, Bill; daughter, Vicki Coutant; son, Bruce Coutant, both of Aledo; sister, Greta (John) Hughes of Moline; brothers, Marvin (Janine) Thirtyacre and Gregg Thirtyacre, all of Burgess; Rodney Thirtyacre of Viola; Darrell (Loretta) Thirtyacre of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, two brothers, Donnie and Rick preceded her in death.
