Shirley “Jean” Ristau, 93 of Galesburg, IL, formerly of New Windsor, IL passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022 at home. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Additional visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at noon Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline. Burial is 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 in the Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. Jean was born March 16, 1929 in New Windsor, IL to Leman and Celia Kasenberg McMullen. She attended the Fairview schools, graduated from Viola High School and Monmouth College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree. On January 30, 1955, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Ristau in Viola, IL.
Jean was a librarian at the New Windsor Public Library for many years.
Her memberships include Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Mercer County Farm Bureau and the Prime Timers. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Dick, two daughters, Michele (Duane) Jenkins of Tebbetts, MO; Terri (Mark) Wilson of Rio; three grandsons, Jason (Allison) Jenkins of Tebbetts, MO; Shane (Jennifer) Jenkins of Tualatin, Oregon; Ian (Emera) Wilson of Marquette, MI; 5 great grandchildren, Aiden, Ashlyn, Paige, Carly and Alex; special granddaughter, Nicole Jenkins of Holts Summit, MO; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lola Harrison and one niece, Gloria Hoffman.
