Sewell Dillbeck, age 90, of Rio, Illinois died Friday November 2, 2012 at his home. Graveside Services are 10:00 AM Monday at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg where Military services will be conducted. Visitation is from 4-7 PM Sunday at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Tri-County EMT's. He was born January 26, 1922 in Datto, Arkansas to Oren and Edith Randolph Dillbeck. He graduated from Alexis High School and married Ila F. Williams February 17, 1949 in Aledo, IL. She died in 2009.
Sewell farmed in the Viola, Oneida, and Rio areas and worked as a mechanic for many years. He retired from Maytag in Galesburg in 1989 after 26 years of employment.
For many years he raised and sold Clydesdale Horses which he trained both separately and in teams to work for area farmers. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and especially enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Linda (Glenn) Rezac of Emmett, KS; Karen (Keith) Stille of Woodhull, IL, 1 son William (Carol) Dillbeck of Cambridge, IL, 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 brothers , Robert Dillbeck of Muscatine, IA, James Troy Dillbeck of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, step-mother Martha, 1 sister Mava and 1 brother Rex preceded him in death.
