Ruth M. Samuelson, age 98, of Alpha, Illinois died Sunday December 14, 2014 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois. Funeral services are 11:00 AM Wednesday December 17, 2014 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ophiem, IL. Burial is in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services Wednesday at the Church where memorials may be left to Grace Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran Cemetery. She was born March 27, 1916 in Lynn Township, Henry County Illlinois to Adolph William and Maria E. Johnson Lindstrom. She attended Rustic Hill School and Orion High School. On March 27, 1940 she was united in marriage to Mauritz John Samuelson at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Orion. He died in 2004.
Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, WELCA and the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing 42 and was an avid Cubs fan.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Ron Pettit of Alpha, IL, one son, Archie Samuelson of New Windsor, IL, 2 grandchildren, Ashley Samuelson of Chicago, Jerry (Shelby) Samuelson of Woodhull, IL, 2 great grandchildren Blain and Jager Samuelson and 3 step-great grandchildren Addison Barman, Chloe and Michael Hinerichsen.
Her parents, husband, 3 sisters, Eleanor Anderson, Pearl Winkler, Evelyn Bjork and 1 brother Ivan Lindstrom preceded her in death
