Ruth M. Goben, 88 of Hudson, Wisconsin, formerly of New Windsor and Alpha, IL died Tuesday February 27, 2018 at the Pine Ridge Assisted Living in Hudson. Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 3, 2018 at the New Windsor Presbyterian Church. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha where memorials may be left to the New Windsor Presbyterian Church, Tri-County Ambulance or Adoray Hospice. She was born December 21, 1929 in Alpha to Lynn and Josephine Epperson Barton. She graduated from Alpha High School and attended Moline Beauty School. Ruth was united in marriage to Gerald W. Goben June 20, 1948 in Alpha. He died May 26, 2005.
Ruth was a beautician operating out of her home in Alpha for 17 years. She was employed at New Horizons and the Harrington Home, both in Galesburg.
She was a member, former deacon and trustee of the New Windsor Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Alpha Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Time For Tots.
She loved crafting, ceramics, knitting, quilting and crocheting.
Surviving are her children, Deborah (John) Davenport of Hudson, WI, Lynn (Lyndie) Goben of Big Rock, IL, 5 grandchildren: Alyse (Ryan) Birkemeyer of AZ; Kati Anglin of TX; Kevin, Kirk and Karissa Goben all of IL; one sister, Mary (Van) Floyd of Swedona, IL, 1 brother, Pete (Evelyn) Barton of Alpha, IL; many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, one son, Scott, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and a grandson-in-law, John Anglin preceded her in death.
