Ruth G. Curry, 93 of Alpha, IL, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Grace Lutheran Church in Ophiem. Burial is in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or Grace Lutheran Cemetery. She was born September 4, 1923 in Ophiem, IL to Arthur and Alice Rehn Mattson. She graduated from Oxford Township High School and attended business school in Rock Island. Ruth married Charles E. Curry on January 31, 1945 in Ophiem, IL. He died September 21, 2015.

Ruth was a homemaker and the matriarch of Curry Farms and Country Corner. She worked tirelessly preparing and distributing lunches to the fields in spring and fall.
She was baptized, confirmed, and married in Grace Lutheran Church where she was active in many capacities over the years. Ruth was a member of WELCA where she enjoyed sewing and quilting with ladies of the church.

Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who unselfishly loved her family. She noted the birthdays and anniversaries of every friend and relative with a specially selected card. She was an artist who enjoyed painting, ceramics and various crafts. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed shopping for her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Annette (Mitch) Johnson of Springfield, IL; three sons, Duane (Carol) Curry, Neil (Dea) Curry; Bruce (Alex) Curry, all of Alpha; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Burgston of Geneseo, IL; one brother-in-law, Dale Hamerlinck of Milan; one aunt, Patricia Nimrick of Taylor Ridge; many nieces and nephews; loving grand dog, Charlee Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Janet Bloomberg, one infant son, Ronald, one sister, Vivian Shepherd, two brothers, Bernard Mattson and an infant brother.
