Ruby E. Swanson, 97, of Woodhull, IL died Monday, December 21, 2015 at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Missouri. Services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of services. Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and memorials may be left to the Bethany Lutheran Church or de Greeff Hospice House. She was born April 4, 1918 in rural North Henderson, IL to Oscar and Anna Nelson Peterson. She graduated from Alpha High School. On February 14, 1940, she was united in marriage to Curtis H. Swanson in her parents' home in Rio. He died in 1986.

Ruby was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and especially being with her friends and family.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy (David) Swanson of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Scott Swanson of Salt Lake City, UT; Katrina (Kenny) Roberts of Hillsboro, MO; Jennifer Swanson of St. Louis, MO; two great grandchildren, Graham Swanson and Marissa Roberts; one sister, Marie Colburn of Galesburg, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Frances Malmberg and Helen Peterson and one brother, Clarence.
