Roger A. Forret Jr., 80, of Aledo, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 AM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Andalusia. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery where graveside military services will be conducted by the Mercer County VFW Post #1571. Visitation is Friday 4-7 p.m. at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County VFW Post #1571. Roger was born September 1, 1933 in Moline, Illinois to Roger Sr. and Gladys Weber Forret. He graduated from United Township High School and attended St. Ambrose University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a combat veteran of the Korean War from 1953 to 1956.

Roger married Mary "Kay" Varner April 27, 1957 in Aledo.

He was employed at International Harvester for several years until becoming employed at John Deere Harvester in East Moline, retiring after 21 years of service.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where he served as Eucharist Minister and Finance Committeeman. Roger was a member of the Mercer County VFW Post #1571 where he served as past commander and the Aledo Exchange Club.

Roger was an avid and accomplished golfer and pianist. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Kay; one daughter, Jennifer (Steve) Hamerlinck of Reynolds; three sons, Brian Forret of Tampa, FL; Bradley (Tina) Forret of Taylor Ridge; Bruce (Penny) Forret of Indian Trail, NC; 9 grandchildren; one sister, Nancy (Robert) Rioux of Carbon Cliff, IL; one brother, Robert (Carol) Forret of Silvis, IL; several nieces and nephews.

His parents and one son, Chip preceded him in death.
