Robert E. Snyder, 71, of Alpha, IL died Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg. Cremation has been accorded. Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery where graveside military services will be conducted. Visitation is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church, St. Jude's Hospital or the Oxford American Legion Post 1197. He was born April 30, 1944 in Moline, IL to Henry and Delores Forseth Snyder. On his 16th birthday, Robert was sworn in by Admiral Chester Nimitz into the U.S. Navy Reserves. Upon graduation from Winola High School, he enlisted into active duty. Robert received his associates degree in business at Carl Sandburg College. Robert married Sandra Lindsey April 30, 1967 in Woodhull, IL.

He was employed in the insurance industry for forty years.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull and Oxford American Legion Post 1197. He enjoyed cooking, oil painting, golfing and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sister, Barbara (Leroy) Watters, of Lake Mary, Florida; one brother, Jeff Anderson of New Windsor; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Bazsali of Streamwood, IL; brother-in-law David (Cindy) Lindsey of Spruce Pine, N.C; a mother-in-law, Audrey Lindsey of Alpha, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
