Robert D. Rainey, 85, of Mission, TX, formerly of Woodhull, IL died Tuesday January 29, 2013 at the Comfort House in McAllen TX. Funeral services are 2:00 PM Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery where graveside Military services will be conducted. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services Monday at the church where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran. He was born November 25, 1927 in Aurora, IL to James and Alida Erickson Rainey. He graduated from Woodhull High School and married Lorna A. Rehn October 21, 1956.
Robert was a U. S. Army Veteran.
He was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as an Armament Specialist retiring in 1983. For many years Bob traveled throughout the world to places such as Vietnam, Israel, Italy and Afghanistan where he specialized in the use and training of Helicopter Weapons systems.
HE was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in McAllen, TX and he enjoyed singing .
Survivors include his wife, Lorna and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents preceded him in death.
