Penny M. Combs, 87, of New Boston, Illinois, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Services are 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fippinger's where memorials may be left to the New Boston Cemetery. She was born August 14, 1926 in Anna, Illinois to Harvey and Ossie Allen Lyerla. She attended the local schools. On January 27, 1958 she married Robert Combs in Madison, Illinois. He died in July 29, 2008.
Penny was a homemaker. She was employed as a waitress in New Boston and owned and operated the Riverview Restaurant. She tended bar at George's Place in New Boston and worked at Sloan's Melon Stand for several years.
She was a devoted mother and enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, mowing the yard and being with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Bessie) Robinson of Aledo; Jim (Sue) Robinson of Erie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters, Shelby Francis; Gladys Jones; Bonnie Bridges, all of Southern Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters preceded her in death.
