Norburt L. "Burt" Russell, age 64, of Aledo, Illinois formerly of Viola, Illinois died Wednesday July 29, 2015 at the Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Graveside Services will be 1 :00 PM Friday July 31, 2105 at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is from 11:00 AM to Noon Prior to services Friday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the Viola American Legion Post # 229. Burt was born December 4, 1950 in Oklahoma City, OK to Eugene and Zita Leitner Russell. He graduated from the United Township High School in East Moline. He never married.
He was a U.S. Vietnam Veteran serving in the Air Force from 1971 to 1975. He was employed as a Policeman at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring due to ill health in 1998. His memberships include the Viola American Legion Post # 229 and the AARP. He loved to read and build model ships and schooners.
Survivors include a brother, Gary Russell of Sacramento, CA, a brother-in-law, Earl Jon Esp of Aledo, IL, 3 nephews, Eugene Russell of Chicago, Jonathan (Maureen) Esp and their son Oliver of Two Rivers, WI, and Matthew Esp of Aledo, Il
His parents and a sister Rochelle Esp preceded him in death
