Mildred I. (Millie) Nelson

Mildred I. (Millie) Nelson, 95, formerly of Ophiem and Woodhull, IL died August 25, 2022 at St. Anthony’s Continuing Care in Rock Island.

Private family visitation will be held. Cremation has been accorded and graveside memorials will be scheduled for a later date. She was born February 10, 1927 in Osceola, IA to Lloyd and Agnus McCarl Farr. Millie was united in marriage on August 23, 1947 for 52 years to Wilfred “Bill” A. Nelson until his death November 28, 1999. Together they co-owned and operated for 3 generations, W.J. Nelson and Sons Ford Tractor and Equipment in Ophiem, IL. Millie was very proud of her family and she never forgot to be thankful, and give thanks to the Lord.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church Ophiem, until it’s closing in 2019; and the Ophiem American Legion Post #1077 Auxiliary. She and Bill enjoyed participating in both the Illinois, and National Farm Equipment Dealers Association events; and in particular loved to travel and vacation by RV, and boating.

She is survived by her son Garry (Jacque) Nelson of Howell, MI, 2 grandchildren, Lee Bellino, and Laura (Michael) Sykes, of Michigan. Six great-grandchildren: August (Aaron), Luke, Kate and Ava (Lee), and Zachary and Evan (Laura); and wonderful nieces and nephews.

Her parents, husband, son Michael, grandson Aaron, two sisters and brother preceded her in death.
