Maxine Whitehall

Maxine C. Whitehall, 93, of Moline, IL. formerly of Joy, IL. died Monday, April 7, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 AM Thursday April 10, 2014 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial is in the Candor Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Prior to Mass at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She was born April 23, 1920 in rural Oquawka, IL to James and Ella Beard Welch. She attended the East Buffalo Prairie schools and married William L. Whitehall June 30, 1940 in Aledo. He died in 1970.

Maxine was a homemaker and was employed as a certified nurse's aide at Mercer County Hospital for 17 years and later did Home Health Care for 10 years, retiring in 1994.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Mercer County Senior Citizens Center, the Red Hat Society and AARP.

Maxine enjoyed her family and grandchildren, loved to crochet and cook and was known for her chicken and noodles.

Survivors include a daughter, Diane (Millard) Lindberg of Andover; a son, Larry (Margaret) Whitehall of Milan; 3 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren, a brother, Ronald Welch of Moline and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son: James, a granddaughter: Kathy Lindberg, 1 great grandson Raymond, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

The family would to thank Dr. John Davies for his friendship, compassion and expertise. HE was always there when needed. A very special thanks to all of Heartland staff in every department. Their excellence in patient care and compassion for the entire family made the final days easier. Lastly, a special thanks to mom's angels Betty and Jean. Be happy knowing she is at peace.
