Mary E. MacDonald, 90, of Reynolds, Illinois, died Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Aledo. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Rock Island. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. prior to visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Apollo Elementary School (for fourth grade school supplies) or the Mercer County Food Pantry. Mary was born February 6, 1924 on the family farm in Preemption Township, Illinois to Charles and Anna Grady Conway. She graduated from Reynolds High School and Marycrest College. She married Norman J. MacDonald August 6, 1946 at St. Catherine's Church in Aledo. He died in 1994.
She was employed as a schoolteacher in the Aledo School District for 29 years and one year teaching in Moline.
Mary was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
She enjoyed bowling, gardening, traveling, spending winters in Arizona with siblings and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Toni (Gary) Church of San Diego, CA; three sons, Ric (Elizabeth) MacDonald of Aledo; Jay (Linda) MacDonald of Reynolds, IL; Robert MacDonald of Loveland, CO; 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Ellen, Ian and Maggie; a sister, Kathleen Corrigan of Bettendorf, IA; three brothers, Thomas Conway of Reynolds, James Conway of Aledo, Charles Conway of Sun City, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
