Marjorie E. Snyder, 94, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Alpha and New Windsor, IL died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline, IL. Services are 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of service. She was born August 8, 1918 in Sherrard, IL to Thomas and Mary Nimrick McNeil. She attended the local schools and married Leslie Snyder February 17, 1936 in Rock Island, IL. He died in 1992.
Marjorie was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, farmed with her parents and was later employed in the John Deere and Company cafeteria. She was employed at Milan Camper Sales for several years and later in life, she assisted the elderly in Henry and Knox County.
She was an avid bowler, bingo player and never knew a stranger. She enjoyed her pets and wintering in TX.
She is survived by one daughter: Sharon Karenke of Lynn Center, IL; one son: Marion (Darlene) Snyder of Knoxville, TN; 5 grandchildren: Rebecca Fuller of Lynn Center, IL; Terri Madison of Taylor Ridge, IL; Kristie Jansen of East Moline, IL; Sylvia Snyder of Keithsburg, IL; John Snyder of Bend, OR; 11 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter: Mary Jean; one son-in-law: Dale Karenke; two brothers; and her special dog: Princess.
