Marion Thompson

Marion Thompson, 86, of Aledo, IL passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Aledo. Visitation will be Monday, October 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The graveside service will be Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:45 AM at the Aledo Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be left to Fippinger Funeral Home to assist with final expenses. Marion was born on October 23, 1936 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, the son of Allan and Opal (Walton) Thompson. After high school, he joined the United States Navy. Marion served the local community for many years as an auxiliary policeman.  He also worked for JI Case for 33 years as a precision tool grinder. Marion enjoyed restoring tractors and lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting. He was also a Scout Leader and a rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club.

He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Thompson of Aledo, IL; 3 children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia Thompson, Joshua Thompson; 3 grandchildren, Rob, Stephen, Courtney; 1 brother, Eugene Thompson; 1 niece, Amber; and 1 nephew, Aaron.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Theodore Thompson.
