Lois Y. Giffin, 83, of Aledo, IL, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Services are 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at Fippinger Funeral Home. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Fippinger's where memorials may be left to the Sunbeam Presbyterian Church. Online condolences can be made at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.

Lois was born November 25, 1928 in Elgin, IL, a daughter of Roland and Hazel Watkins Mielkey. She graduated from Rock Island High School and married John A. Giffin, Jr. September 14, 1947 in Milan, IL. He died December 8, 1997.

Lois was a homemaker, a member of the Sunbeam United Presbyterian Church and Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter: Sandra (Stephen) Lingafelter of Aledo, IL; one son: William Giffin of Spokane, WA; three grandsons: Matthew (Kristen) Lingafelter of Galesburg, IL; Marcus (Shelly Imler) Lingafelter of Aledo, IL and Timothy Lingafelter of Chicago, IL; 4 great grandchildren: Ryan, Katee, Megan and Abby; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husband: John and one brother preceded her in death.
