Laurence L. Ward

Laurence L. "Larry" Ward, 83, of Alpha, IL passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services are 12:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to Meals on Wheels and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

He was born March 13, 1939 in Davenport, Iowa to Ina Mae Grabbe. He graduated from AlWood High School. Larry married Roberta F. "Bert" Farley September 9, 1961 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline, IL.  She passed away November 13, 2021.

Larry was a retired factory machinist for Case IH.  Larry enjoyed coaching little league for many years and mowing.  He was always working on a project.

He was a member of Meals on Wheels, Die Hard Cubs Fan Club and a shareholder of the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include two daughters, Lori Ward of Alpha, IL; Teri (Jason Smay) Ward of Galesburg, IL; three sons, Todd (Anne) Ward of Woodhull, IL; Scott (Kathryn) Ward of Galesburg, IL; Gregory (Kelly) Ward of Corpus Christi, TX; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bert; one son, Troy; one grandson, Colin; two brothers and one sister.
