Kathryn M. "Kate" Leng, 89, of Aledo, IL died Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fippinger's where the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary will conduct a service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be left to Mercer County YMCA, VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary or Aledo Methodist Church. She was born May 7, 1923 in Seaton, IL, a daughter of Middie and Edna Spence Bigham. She graduated from Aledo High School, attended Moline Business College and married Robert N. Leng October 20, 1945 in Aledo. He died November 13, 1996.

Kate was employed at Quad City Times from 1943-1945 and retired from the Education Office at the Mercer County Courthouse after 21 years of service.

She was a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church and Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler for over 43 years. She also enjoyed swimming, music and crossword puzzles.

She is survived by two daughters: Linda Mulcahey of Milan, IL and Roberta "Bobbi" (Dave) Keyser of Morton, IL; 6 grandchildren: Michelle (Mickey) McBride of Chicago; Michael Mulcahey of East Moline; Meeah (Joe) Pekarek of Chicago; Micah Loveless of Morton; Darci Keyser of Chicago; and Scott Keyser of Tampa, FL; 8 great grandchildren: Michael, Alexa & Brady Mulcahey; Conor & Bridget McBride; Emily Loveless; Owen and Ian Keyser; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; one brother: Dick Bigham and a very special dog, Molly.
