Joyce A. Michael, 72, of Joy,IL. died Friday December 18, 2015 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Services are 10:30 AM Tuesday December 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Joy, Illinois. Burial is in the Candor Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the Mercer County Relay for Life or to the Joy Baptist Church. She was born July 5, 1943 in Galesburg, IL. to Charles and Rachel Trial Decker. She attended the Joy School and moved near Donahue, IA where she attended the local country school and graduated from North Scott High School in Eldridge, IA. She married Ronald R. Michael February 17, 1963 in Joy. He died August 20, 2006.
She and her husband owned and operated Michael's Greenhouse for several years. She was employed in the Admitting Department at the Mercer County Hospital in Aledo and worked for Dr. Rajput retiring in 1996.
Joyce was a member of the Joy Baptist church and it's Women of Missions Club. She enjoyed flowers, bird watching, traveling, fishing and especially being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Mark) Christofferson of Joy; a son, Kevin (Jodi) Michael of Reinbeck, IA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Rick (Peggy) Decker of Muscatine and Ronald (Theresa) Decker of Colorado.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
