Joanna F. Henderson, 77, of Aledo, Illinois, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at Aledo Health and Rehab Center. Services are 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. Monday until the time of service at Fippinger's. She was born October 13, 1936 in New Boston, IL to Milo and Nellie Matthews Diehl. She graduated from Keithsburg High School and married Robert W. Henderson July 14, 1955 in Monmouth. He died in 1992.
Joanna was employed at the Button Factory in Muscatine and was a homemaker for many years. She assisted area residents with housekeeping for many years and was a foster parent.
She was a former member of the former First United Presbyterian Church in Aledo and a member of the DAR.
She enjoyed walking, exercising, reading, cooking and socializing with her friends at McDonald's. Joanna especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter: Traci (Cliff) Nesbitt of Aledo, Illinois; one son: Randy (Cathy) Henderson of Joy, Illinois; 5 grandchildren: Jill (Bo) Dunn of Seaton; Robert Henderson and Jeremy Henderson, both of Aledo; Heather Adams of Muscatine, Iowa; Carrie Appelquist of Rock Island; 4 great grandchildren: Tabious: Cadence; Jayden; Brookelyn; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, four sisters; and two brothers preceded her in death.
