Jillane K. Allison, 60, of Carbondale, IL, died Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital. Services are 11:00 AM, Monday, January 7, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull, IL. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery, Alpha, IL. Visitation is 2-4 PM Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. She was born August 17, 1952 in Galesburg, IL to W. John and Sylvia Rehn Allison. She graduated from AlWood High School in 1970, Monmouth College in 1974 and later received her master's degree in English and creative writing from the University of Illinois in Chicago. She married William Gasper October 31, 1975.
Jillane was employed in the English Department at the University of Illinois in Chicago for several years. She taught high school English and Junior College English in Florida. She most recently was employed as an administrative assistant in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
She was a member of the Cornerstone Reformed Church in Carbondale and enjoyed writing poetry, exercising, gardening, reading and spending time with family.
She is survived by one daughter: Nathalie Gasper of Chicago, IL; her mother: Sylvia Petrovich of Alpha, IL; two sisters: Debbie (Mike) Dodge of Loveland, CO; Jane (Basil) Orechwa of Hustisford, WI; her special friend and companion: Dave Blomeyer of Carbondale, IL; two nieces: Maria and Laura; two nephews: Jesse and Braden.
She was preceded in death by her father; her stepmother: Gloria; and one brother: David.
