Janet V. Swanson, 79, of rural Oneida, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg, IL. Services are 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in New Windsor, IL. Burial is in Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 PM Friday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church or the Clover Public Library. She was born June 9, 1934 in Galesburg, IL to Carroll and Mildred Peterson Anderson. She graduated from New Windsor High School and married Richard L. Swanson January 9, 1955 in New Windsor.
Janet was a homemaker, assisted her husband in the operation of their family farm and babysat for area families for many years.
Her memberships included: Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull, Rio Eastern Star, Rio Woman's Club, Henry County Farm Bureau and the Clover Investment Club. She was a member of the New Windsor Bridge Club for over 50 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, cooking and family gatherings.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter: Rene (Gale) Bramlett of Rio; one son: Roger Swanson of Woodhull; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister: Betty Henrikson of Woodhull; one brother: Jeffrey Anderson of New Windsor; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents; one infant son: Dale Craig; two sisters; two brothers preceded her in death.
