Gerald Swanson

Gerald  L. Swanson, 80 of Sherrard, Illinois passed away Monday, March 13, 2023 at his home.  Visitation will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Peterson Wallin Knox, Alpha, Illinois prior to proceeding at 11:00 a.m. to the graveside service in Hopewell Cemetery.  Memorial may be made to the family where a charity will be designated later. Gerald was born May 30, 1942 in Galesburg, Illinois to LeRoy A. and Josephine A. Bredberg Swanson.  He graduated from Winola High School.   Gerald married Janet Anderson June 9, 1962 in New Windsor.

Gerald was a welder at John Deere Harvester in Moline for 30 years.  He was a member of the UAW Local 865.

He enjoyed fishing, boating and snowbirding in Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Janet; two sons, Gerald L. Swanson Jr. of Sherrard, Illinois; Jay K. Swanson of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandchildren, Daniel W. (Nikkole) Swanson; Tarri (Raymond) Swanson-Metz, both of Milan, Illinois; three great grandchildren, Daelynn, Kenneth and Andrew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Danny Swanson.
