Forrest McKey

January 18, 1925 — January 28, 2017

Forrest M. McKey, age 92, of Woodhull, IL, died Saturday January 28, 2017 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.  Services are 10:30 AM Thursday February 2, 2017 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull.  Burial is in the Woodhull Cemetery where Military Services will be conducted.  Visitation is from 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull.  Memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull Cemetery Association or the Tri-County Ambulance.  Online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com

He was born January 18, 1925 in Woodhull to Tracy and Lillian Bloomberg McKey.  He graduated from Woodhull High School in 1943.  He was a U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran serving in WW II as a Bombardier and Navigator.  He received the American Campaign service medal and the WW II Victory medal.

Forrest and Audrey L. Johnson were married January 28, 1951 in Woodhull.  She died in 1995.

He was employed briefly as a milkman and as an Illinois State Trooper before becoming a petroleum salesman with Henry Service Company in Cambridge, IL.  for 41 years retiring in 1988.

His memberships include Bethany Lutheran Church, Henry County Farm Bureau, Andover Swede Club, Masonic Lodge and the Galesburg and Moline Coin Clubs.  He served on the Clover Township Library Board, Woodhull Cemetery Board, Clover Township Trustee and was a lifetime member and former Treasurer for the Miles S. Sturgeon American Legion Post # 546 in Woodhull.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Patrice (George) Wirt of Alpha, IL, Rhonda (Greg) Miller of New Windsor, IL. 1 son, Todd (Annette) McKey of Henry, IL,  7 grandchildren Brigette, Kristen, Philip, Aaron, Jessica, Trevor and Jennie, 12 great grandchildren Maddie, Logan, Forrest, Morgan, Brynlee, Bristol, Emersyn, Samuel, Peyton, Keegan, Carson, and Forrest.  1 sister, Marna Music of Pomona, CA and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, and 1 sister preceded him in death.
