Evelyn McCaw

Evelyn E. McCaw age 98 of Aledo, IL died on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at Mercer Manor in Aledo.

Family and Friends are invited to a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM Friday January 22, 2021 at the Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton, IL.  There is no visitation.   In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Keithsburg Christian Church. Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo is in charge of arrangements and online condolences can be made at fippingerfuneralhome.com.

Evelyn was born in North Henderson on December 1, 1922, a daughter of Chester and Orpha Johnson Peterson. She graduated from the Seaton High School and married Floyd McCaw on November 22, 1941 in Kahoka, MO.  He died September 24, 2005.  They farmed in the Joy, Sherrard and New Windsor areas, retiring in 1979.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, playing cards, bingo and all kinds of puzzles.  She was artistic and enjoyed painting and coloring.  Baseball and basketball were her favorite sports to watch – was a big Cubs and Bulls fan.  She was very social and she loved being with her family and friends.  Always had a smile on her face.  They called her “Smiley” at Mercer Manor.

Survivors include 3 sons, James (Sherian) of Bettendorf, IA, Rodney of New Windsor, IL. and John  “Jack” of Cape Coral, FL. 7 grandchildren,  7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Eunice Reynolds of Monmouth, IL, Carol (Dwight) Boock of Seaton, IL. several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents,  husband, a daughter, Jo Ann,  an infant daughter, Kay, and 2 sisters Frances Harrison and Betty Unsworth.
