Eva Collingwood

March 8, 1920 — May 31, 2013

Eva H. Collingwood, 93, a resident of Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, NC, formerly of Alpha, IL, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at her residence. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Galesburg, Illinois. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, IL. Memorials may be left to the Henry County Human Society and online condolences may be left at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

Eva was born March 8, 1920 in Melcher, Iowa to Anton and Vida Mahalovich Bubon. She graduated from Oxford Township High School in 1939. She worked with the U.S. Government for 33 years and for 27 years was the postmaster in Alpha, Illinois. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Woodhull. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Professional Association League of Postmasters.

She loved gardening, reading, cooking, fellowship, spending time with her family, especially her great grandchildren. She was a huge Chicago Cubs fan.

She is survived by a son, Russ (Roseann) Collingwood of Wallace, NC, a grandson, Brian Collingwood of Matthews, NC, a granddaughter, Erin (Rodney) Gardner of Charlotte, NC, two great granddaughters, Grace and Peyton Gardner of Charlotte, NC, a sister, Josephine Malley of San Jose, CA and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gene M. Collingwood, four brothers, John, Tony, Ralph, and Joe Bubon and a sister, Mary Fee.
