Eudora L. Watkins, 91, of Aledo, Illinois died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Unity Point-Health in Rock Island. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 29, 2014 at St. John's Anglican Church in Preemption. Burial is in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to St. John's Anglican Church or Shriner's Hospital for Children. She was born January 29, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Clarence and Eva Isabelle Buller Carr. She graduated from Lyons High School in LaGrange, Illinois, attended McMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and entered nurse's training at Augustana Hospital in Chicago. She married Robert D. Watkins Sr. March 27, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri.
Eudora and Bob owned and operated the Watkins Flowers Inc. in Chicago and Evergreen Park, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of St. John's Church, a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed dancing, world traveling and being with her family.
Eudora is survived by her husband, Bob: one daughter, Dr. Suzanne (Gunter) Klein of Seattle, WA; two sons, Dr. Thomas (Nancy) Watkins of Aledo and Robert D. Watkins Jr. of Yorktown, Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one twin brother and one sister.
