Elmer L. Wagner, 61, of New Boston, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Services are 1:30 PM Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Joy First Baptist Church. Burial is in the Greenmound Cemetery in Keithsburg. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be made to Joy First Baptist Church or Mercer County Animal Shelter. Elmer was born February 2, 1953 in Aledo, Illinois to Johnny and Lois Scull Wagner. He graduated from Westmer High School in 1971 and never married.
He farmed with his dad and Uncle Dig, for many years. Elmer was a member of the Joy First Baptist Church where he served as deacon.
He enjoyed flowers, square dancing, taking care of animals, old cars and vintage trucks.
Survivors include his parents, Johnny and Lois Wagner of New Boston, Illinois; two sisters, Brenda Wagner and Diane Dunn, both of Aledo; one niece, Amy Dunn of San Diego, California; one nephew, J.J. Dunn and his daughter, Mikayla Dunn, both of Aledo.
His grandparents preceded him in death.
