Edna “Ruth” Braucht, 96 of Aledo, IL, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Genesis Senior Living in Aledo. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday February 24, 2018 at the Joy United Methodist Church. Burial is in the Peniel Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She was born April 13, 1921 in Pike County, IL to Frank and Effie Vought Hadsell. Ruth attended Joy High School. She married William “Wayne” Braucht June 22, 1946 in Joy, IL. He died November 22, 2005.
Ruth was baptized in the Mississippi River at the age of 13. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and Joy United Methodist Church where she taught kindergarten Sunday school and bible school for 15 years. Ruth was a part-time custodian at the church for 15 years and the Joy State Bank for 13 years.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, piecing quilts and fishing.
Ruth is survived by a daughter: Anita (Doug) Stubbs of New Boston; 6 grandchildren: Tara (Jerry) Foltz of Silvis; William (Tara) Braucht of Aledo; Heidi Braucht of Ottawa; Alicia Russell and Tim Braucht, both of Keithsburg; Josh (Hillary) Sedam of Altamont; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son: Daryl Braucht; three sisters and two brothers.
