Dorothy Rowland

Dorothy I. Rowland, 81, of Milan, IL died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Memorial services are 3:00 p.m. Saturday February 6, 2016 at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, IL. Private burial will be at a later date in the Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo, IL. Visitation is from 1:00pm until time of services, Saturday at the funeral home where memorials may be left to the Alternatives for Older Adults. Dorothy was born June 18, 1934 in Lostant, IL to Myron and Hazel Ridenour Griffin. She graduated from Hills High School in Hills, MN in 1952. She attended Blackhawk College in Moline. She married Orlin Rowland April 15, 1953 in Steen, MN. He died June 27, 1969.

Dorothy was employed at Oak Glen Nursing Home in Coal Valley in the activities department and more recently worked giving private home care. She was the president and member of the retirees of A.F.S.C.M.E. and a member of the Oak Glen Auxiliary.

Survivors including a daughter: Monica (David) Flowers of Aledo, 3 sons: Darrell (Kim) Rowland of Sherrard, Kenneth (Annette) Rowland of New Windsor, Scott (Carolyn) Rowland of Lynn Center, IL, a daughter-in-law, Stacey Rowland of Aledo; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Carole Barton of Bethany, MO, Shirley Berryhill of Estherville, IA, 2 brothers: Gale Griffin and Larry Griffin, several nieces and nephews including Glenda and Lowell Zoet.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Michael, a daughter, Lisa and 3 brothers.
