Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy E. Johnson, age 90 of Woodhull, Illinois, died Wednesday February 1, 2017 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.  Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull.   Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Cremation will follow the services and private burial will be Wednesday in the Woodhull Cemetery. Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.    Memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church and online condolences may be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.
Dorothy was born January 7, 1927 in rural Woodhull to Eric and Nettie Peterson Carlson.  She graduated from Altona High School in 1944.  Dorothy married Maurice H. Johnson February 22, 1948 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull, IL.  He died January 15, 1990.
She was a homemaker and was employed as a bookkeeper at the Woodhull Co-op.
Dorothy was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Lutheran Church Women, Bible Study group and the Clover Township Home Extension.   She enjoyed walking, reading and spending time with her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Julie (Anthony Gonzales) A. Johnson of Chicago; two sons, Daniel L. Johnson of Manteno; Jonathan E. Johnson of Woodhull; six grandchildren, Christopher Johnson of Rockwall, TX; Nina Kurfman of Baylis, IL; Caleb Johnson of Hahira, GA; Ruthie Johnson of Chicago; Timothy and Peter Johnson of Monteno, IL; four great grandchildren, Ryot, Ralston, Ena and Sixten; several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Thomas.
