Donald Patterson

Donald V. Patterson, formerly of Woodhull and Alpha, IL died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Rock Island at the age of 93. Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. Burial is in the Clover Chapel Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home where memorials may be left to Colona United Methodist Church or the Miles S. Sturgeon American Legion Post #546. He was born December 24, 1923 in Pike County, IL to Herbert and Edna Smith Patterson. He graduated from Barry Community High School and married Marjorie I. Mummey March 6, 1949 in Barry.

He served in the United States Army during WWII and was stationed in Germany.

Donald is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marjorie, 2 daughters; Karen (Bob) Grabowski of Alpha; Kay Hoaglin of Independence, MO, 1 son; Kent (Jan) Patterson of Coal Valley, 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 1 sister; Marilyn Dunn of Quincy, IL, 1 brother; Dallas (Pat) Patterson of Barry, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister.
