David Peterson

June 12, 1958 — November 27, 2020

David N. Peterson, 62, of Woodhull, Illinois died Friday, November 27, 2020 at home.  Cremation has been accorded.  Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday December 5, 2020 in the Woodhull Cemetery.  There is no visitation and memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church, Woodhull Cemetery or a scholarship fund to be established in his name at the University of Illinois.  Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be left at www.petersonwallinknox.com.

David was born June 12, 1958 in Woodhull, Illinois to Walter and Norma C. Engstrom Peterson. He graduated from AlWood High School in 1976 and attended Blackhawk College.  David never married.

David was briefly employed at Eagle’s Warehouse in Milan and assisted the Stiers in janitorial duties at AlWood High School.  He retired October 16, 2020 after 39 years of employment at GrowMark in Alpha.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir, the Choral Dynamics of Galesburg and was a member of the Board of Directors at Diverse Communications in Woodhull.

David was an avid Illini and Chicago Cubs fan.  He enjoyed singing at many funerals throughout the years in the area.

Survivors include: two sisters, Donita “Dottie” Creek of Woodhull, IL, Marlene Peterson of Peoria Heights, IL; one nephew, Kevin Creek of Hainesville, IL; one niece, Karla (Jason) Hoth of Davenport, Iowa; two great nephews, Tyler and Nathan; one great great nephew, Eli; cousins, Kathy and Karl Peterson.

David was preceded in death by his parents; one nephew, Kyle; one brother-in-law:  Jerry Creek.
