Daniel J. Carlson, 69, of Rio, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Marigold Rehabilitation and Health Care, Galesburg.
A service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home, Woodhull. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Woodhull Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Rio Presbyterian Church or to the Rio Volunteer Fire Department, or to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Woodhull. Daniel was born on August 8, 1954, in Moline, the son of Charles “Coke” and Marguerite “Susie” (Lambin) Carlson. He graduated from ROVA High School in 1972. His family owns and operates Coke’s Sales and Service in Rio, where he worked as a mechanic. Daniel was a master mechanic starting at a young age. He was always tinkering with objects to see how they were put together and worked. He enjoyed motorcycles, cars, and trains, anything that had a motor he had a fascination with. In 1992, he received a Ford Certificate of Achievement, for successfully completing the electrical systems course. Daniel had a love for music, especially Jazz, and he played the clarinet.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Susie Carlson; brother, Charlie Carlson; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Carlson.
