Carol J. Braucht, 72, of Aledo, IL, died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. Services are 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Oakridge Cemetery in Millersburg. Visitation is noon to the time of service, Saturday at Fippinger's where memorials may be left to Mercer County Animal Shelter or the New Kingdom Trailriders. She was born December 1, 1939 in Millersburg, IL to Weber and Gertrude Weeks Braucht. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1957. She never married.
Carol lived and worked in Los Angeles for 20 years and returned to the Aledo area in 1971 where she was employed at the John Deere Administration Center. She retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 2004.
She enjoyed flower gardening, watching birds, fishing, going for drives and loved her pets.
Survivors include one sister: Mardelle (Curtis) Morrow of Andalusia, IL; six nieces: Linda (Mitch) Anderson of Andalusia, IL; Karen (Greg) Anderson of Moulton, AL; Rita (Randy) Sedam of New Boston, IL; Karla Anderson of Davenport, IA; Pam (Steve) Slavish of Matherville, IL; Carol (Jeff) Beeding of Aledo; and two nephews: Jay (Wendy) Morrow of East Moline, IL; Brad (Lisa) Barnhouse of Aledo; her faithful dog: Heidi; several great and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers and a niece.
The family would especially like to thank the fourth floor nurses and staff at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island.
