Betty L. Unsworth, age 88, of Aledo, IL. died Sunday July 28, 2013 in her home. Services are 10:30 AM Thursday, August 1, 2013, at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial is in the Candor Cemetery, rural Seaton, IL. Visitation is from 4-7 Wednesday at Fippingers where memorials may be left to the Center Presbyterian Church or Genesis Hospice. She was born May 11, 1925 in Rural Alexis, IL to Chester and Orpha Johnson Peterson. She attended the Aledo schools and graduated from Seaton High School. On February 8, 1948, she was united in marriage to James H. Unsworth at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo.
Betty was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of their family farm. She worked briefly at the telephone office in Aledo and later was employed as a nurses aid at the Monmouth Hospital and the Mercer County Hospital. She retired from the Western Illinois Home Healthcare Agency.
She was a member of the Center Presbyterian Church in Seaton, IL and she enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening. Betty loved to be with her family and they especially enjoyed her cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, 1 daughter Susan Unsworth Morenz of Chatham, IL, 4 sons, Steve (Becky) Unsworth of Auburn, IL, David (Kathy) Unsworth of Alexis, IL, Dennis Unsworth of Richardson, TX, Gary (Terri) Unsworth of Seaton, IL, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 4 sisters, Evelyn McCaw and Frances Harrison, both of Aledo, IL,Eunice (Jim) Reynolds of Monmouth, IL, Carol (Dwight) Boock of Seaton, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her parents preceded her in death.
