Anthony L. Sotelo, age 75, of Woodhull, Illinois died Sunday, December 23, 2012 at his home. Graveside Services are 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2012 at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is from 3-5 p.m., Sunday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Woodhull. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Tri-County Ambulance or St. Jude's Children Hospital and online condolences can be made at www.petersonwallinknox.com.
He was born October 6, 1937 in Elmore, Minnesota to Stanley and Maria Teneria Sotelo. He graduated from high school in Albert Lea, MN and married Dorothy Martel May 15, 1965 in Moline, IL.
Anthony was a Golden Gloves Boxing champ and enjoyed teaching boxing to area youth in his own gym in Woodhull for many years. He was an Air Force veteran.
Anthony was employed as a brick mason in the construction industry, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Rockford Union Local #6 and loved to read and do crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy; 2 daughters: Lisa Sotelo of Idaho; and Julie Carter of Indiana; three sons: Delano Sotelo of Billings, Montana; Anthony Sotelo of Moline, IL; Stanley of Great Lakes, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents; one son: Wade: one nephew: Nicho; six sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
