Alice M. Wallin, 85, of Alpha, IL died Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg. Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church, Tri-County Ambulance Service or Mosaic in Axtell, Nebraska. She was born October 28, 1932 in Alpha, IL, to W. Clinton and Florence Rutledge Cole. She graduated from AlWood High School in 1950 and attended Bradley University. She married Vernon Eugene Wallin Jr. December 2, 1951 in Alpha, IL. He died September 23, 2008.
Alice was an Illinois licensed funeral director for 50 years. She and her husband owned and operated Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Homes in Alpha and Woodhull retiring in 2002. They also owned and operated the Peterson-Wallin-Knox Furniture Store in Woodhull until it closed in 1994.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary Post #1197 where she served as past president and treasurer.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Jane Cashion of Chicago, IL, Lynne Hines of Des Moines, IA, 2 grandsons: Ryan Cashion of Chicago,IL and Patrick Hines of Ankeny,Ia,3 great grandchildren: Aliza, Brantley and Emery, 1 sister, Marty Plunkett of Peoria, IL, 10 nieces, 5 nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Teresa, 2 brothers, Bill and Sidney Cole, four sisters: Hazel Hughes, Gertrude Walsten, Marian Plunkett and Helen Polk, 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
