Melvona A. Friichtenicht, 83 of New Windsor, IL died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL. Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday May 2, 2017 at the New Windsor Presbyterian Church. Burial is in the New Windsor Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Monday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha, IL. Memorials may be left to the New Windsor Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimers Association. She was born September 10, 1933 in Rio, IL to Charles and Eva White Underwood. She graduated from AlWood High School in 1951and married Dean J. Friichtenicht February 5, 1952 in Ophiem, Illinois.

Melvona was employed at J.C. Penny’s in Galesburg prior to raising her family. She became a flower designer and worked in Alpha, New Windsor and Viola. For many years she was employed at Hignites Florist in East Moline retiring in 1994.

She was a member of the New Windsor Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary and was a former member of the New Windsor Fair and Rodeo Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Dean;three daughters, LouAnne (Ted) Burgess of Lawrence, KS; Jane (Martin) Crapnell of Alpha, IL; Joyce Friichtenicht and Lisa Kelly of Galesburg, IL; one son, Jeffrey (Beth) Friichtenicht of Aledo, Illinois; 6 grandchildren, Tim (Laura) Burgess, Michael Burgess, Dan (Emily) Crapnell, Tom Crapnell, Kelsie (Ty)Homeister and Jacob Friichtenicht, 1 great grandson lovingly expected, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
