Scott
D. Fippinger, Funeral Director
Scott graduated from Aledo High School in 1978, attended Iowa Wesleyan
College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and graduated from University of Minnesota
where he received his B.S. in mortuary science. He worked at the Phalan
Park Funeral Home in St. Paul, Minnesota before returning home to join
his father in the family business on June 1st, 1982.
In addition to working for the family funeral home, Scott was employed
at the Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Homes in Alpha and Woodhull, Illinois,
which he purchased in October 2002. Scott and his wife, Ann, reside in
Aledo and have three children, Nathan, Benjamin, and Elise. He is currently
the President of Fippinger Funeral Home, Inc., and
is responsible for the day to day operations of both the Fippinger Funeral
Home and Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Homes. Having been very active for
over 15 years in community organizations and events, he is currently a
member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo Kiwanis Club, and serves as Director
for the Mercer County Housing Authority. He remains committed to raising
his three children and providing excellent funeral service to his clientele.
Robert M. Fippinger, Founding Funeral Director
Bob was raised in Oak Park and Forest Park, Illinois. He became interested in funeral service as a young boy when his father was caretaker of an apartment complex that leased its parking lot to the Drechsler Funeral home in Oak Park. He graduated from Oak Park High School and attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, graduating in 1950. He married Elizabeth Ann Fippinger in May of 1949, and began his career as a funeral director with Drechsler Funeral Home of Oak Park. Bob later worked for the W.H. Scott Funeral Homes of Wilmette, Evanston and Glenview, Illinois before purchasing the Sherrard Funeral Home and moving to Aledo in August of 1964.
His career in funeral service extended over 50 years having been involved in ambulance service in Aledo for 20 years and as Mercer County Coroner from 1970 to 1980. He was also a forty-five year member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association. Other memberships include Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo and the Aledo Rotary Club.
Bob passed away May 23, 2004.
Lori
Wilson, Office Manager
Lori has been with Fippingers since October 2002. She grew up in Davenport graduated from high school and the American Institute of Commerce. She lived in Columbia, Missouri for several years where she was employed at the MFA Oil Company Corporate Office. Lori has three children; Megan, Sarah and Daniel and one grandchild, Andrew. She enjoys her grandson, reading, music, baking and is a devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Otis Mack – Otie has been with
Fippingers since 1992 after retiring from Bituminous Insurance Company
in Rock Island. After working several years in various capacities, Otie
now enjoys sitting visitations and greeting people as they arrive to pay
respects. He enjoys talking to people, woodworking and being active. He
is married to Joan Kness and they have three children.
Ed Nesbitt – Ed became employed
at Fippingers in October of 2002. Enjoying retirement as an independent
truck driver, he also drove for Preston Trucking Company and Dohrn Transfer.
He is a member of the Aledo United Methodist Church and the Aledo Masonic
Lodge #252 AF & AM. Ed and his wife Marian moved from Alpha, Illinois
to the family farm in Aledo after retirement and he works part-time for
Wal Mart in Aledo. He enjoys his children and grandchildren.
Richard Bemis – Dick comes to
Fippingers after retiring in 1998 from the Soil Conservation Service in
Mercer County where he assisted farmers in conservation measures for their
farms. Dick is married to Norma and they are members of the Sunbeam United
Presbyterian Church. They have three daughters, Jane, Jean and Georgia.
he enjoys farming and collecting arrowheads.
Ron Moffitt – Ron is currently
retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation and came to Fippingers
in October of 2002. In addition to working at the funeral home he is very
active and can be found working at his shop in Aledo. He enjoys coaching
wrestling and fishing and is a member of the First Baptist Church in aledo.
Ron is married to Sharon and they have two children and four grandchildren.
Gary Cortright – Living across
the street from the funeral home, Gary most recently joined the Fippinger
staff after retiring from the Illinois State Department of Human Services
in Aledo. Gary enjoys substitute teaching during the school year and plays
the trombone for the Mercer County Community and Black Hawk Community
Bands. He is married to Marti and they are members of St Catherine's Catholic
Church in Aledo.
